Fear of forests = Hylophobia
The Fear of forests is defined in our Phobia Dictionary as Hylophobia.
Savio's Notes on this Specific Phobia
This kind of phobia is normally associated with other phobias such as fear of tress & fear of darkness. Another noticeable aspect of this phobia is that patients generally are more scared in the nights than the day while approaching a forest. Past accidents, hollywood movies and books have led to many Americans cutting short their forest camping trips or cancelling them altogether. Movies like Blair Witch Project highlight the fear of witches in deep forests.
Both sexes suffer equally from this phobia. Forests seem to form a dream like fantasy in the dreams of many young women I have spoken to.
Phobia Treatment & Prevention according to Savio
Avoid going to the forests and having lots of plants or trees where you live. Easiest way to get rid of this phobia is to build a small garden in your house and develop a love for greenery and forests. Till you overcome this phobia altogether avoid watching TV channels like Animal Planet, National Geographic, etc. because these mediums are full of forest scenes.
