It is indeed pretty common for most people especially young girls to suffer from this phobia. I have known quite a few males who are scared to death of rats or mice as well. However this is largely an urban phenomenon and those living in rural areas or open country / farms have little or no fears of mice in 'em.

Guys - If you want to scare girls away then just get a toy mouse or a real rat as a pet. I know very few girls who can stand mice and they are usually weirdos or lab scientists..

Stay away from wet, damp & garbage places. Try not to live near drainage systems or open holes. Those thinking of moving to the country should reconsider. Owning a restaurant or motel is a bad idea if you suffer from this phobia. Girls should wear Jeans more often because most girls who wear skirts have this enermous fear of something crawling up their legs especially at night. Mise are usually night crawlers so if you stay in at night you will usually be safe.
