Haunted House & Haunted Places

Haunted Houses, Haunted Places

Missing Jewelry

Sent in by Stephanie

This is something that happened to me the other day. Just pondering where to start this story...

I was 16 when my parents bought this place, and I wanted to leave home. So they bought a block of land which had a house and a flat on it. My parents live in the house, and I live in the flat. The flat is long and reasonably narrow, so I have 4 rooms in a row. The loungeroom, then bathroom, bedroom then kitchen, with a skinny hallway connecting them.

A couple of years ago stuff started happening. I'd be in bed and I'd hear music. Noises would wake me up in the middle of the night. (noises which would originate within the room, although I never worked out what they were). The doorstop I have underneath my bedroom door would keep removing itself from beneath the door, and just sit next to it. Things like that. It never really bothered me though. I always believed (perhaps among other people as well) that it was my grandmother. When she was alive we were *extremely* close, and I loved her dearly. She died when I was 11.

Soon after she died, one night my Mum said she felt someone sit on the end of the bed, but nothing like that ever happened to me. Not long after that, one of our knives went missing. Gran always used this little tiny knife for everything, and we had one that was identical to hers. One day we could not find it *anywhere*. It had just disappeared. About 3 years later, we opened the draw one day, and it was sitting right on top.

So here is where my current problem begins. We have these items of jewellery, rings that belonged to my grandmother, and great grandmother, and a necklace my grandmother bought for me when I was a baby. All of these things are very precious to me and my mum, so we always did our best to protect them. I have a waterbed, and to anyone else who has one, you would know that you cannot get to underneath (inside) a waterbed without draining it. So we put these in the bottom of the bed, where we knew even if the hous ewas robbed, they would not be found.

A few weeks ago I decided I wanted the larger room to be my bedroom. I wanted the bed, tv, computer etc all in the one room, and the only room they would all fit in was the loungeroom. So I repainted the room, and then we set about moving the furniture. We drained the bed and lifted it off the base. The moment we picked the plank of wood up, Mum looked into the bed and said, "WHERE IS THE JEWELERY?!?!?!?!?"

It's gone. This place has never been broken into. I've never (until now) told anyone where we hid things. It's just disappeared.

Now, I only hope that Gran decided she wanted her jewelery back for a while, and that nothing bad has actually happened to it. Guess the only way I'll know is if she returns it to us one day. :)

Thought you guys might find it interesting. I would like your comments as well. I don't really want to ask for it back, cause if she has it, then I hope she's enjoying it, but if it's not her... hmm... who knows.
