Marine Ghost
Marine barracks at 8th and I st. in Washington D.C. has been the center of hauntings going back to 18th century.
Only the best of the best get stationed there, and they are considered outstanding Marines.
One night an on duty sentry, spotted someone walking around on one of the ramparts that surround the the compound. that area was supposed to be locked and off limits. The sentry radioed the gaurd assigned to that area.
"Someones up on the walk."
The gaurd checked the hatch that went up onto that part of wall.
"It`s locked, and the O.o.d. (Officer of the day) has the keys."
"Well you better go find him, I`m looking right at this person as we speak.
The confused gaurd went and woke up the officer of the day, which was required to check out for himself, all reports of anything out of the ordinary. The gaurd and the O.o.d. went to check the hatch. It was padlocked from inside.
The Officer of the day, ascended the steps that led to the hatch. He unlocked the hatch and threw the door open. He stepped up a couple of wrungs on ladder, and his upper half disappeard into the night. He stood there for about five seconds, then slowly came back down the latter. He shut the hatch, put the padlock back on and came down the steps.
When asked what he saw, he described a soldier in 17th century uniform, and musket, just standing there looking at him.
That is excactly how he wrote it down in the log. This story told to me by my brother who was stationed at 8th and I. in the early 90`s.
