These Children Never Sleeph

submitted byDanemily

At the age of 6 my family and I moved into a huge 5 story antebellum house 0n Southern Mississippi. It needed a lot of work and we set out to fix it up. I remember when I first walked into that house I got a creepy feeling. When you first walk in there is a grand stairway that leads to the floors above. There is also a servant stairway. I know it's a servant stairway because it was painted an ugly pea green colorand had a small storage closet on the landing and a door that opened up into the hallway downstairs. This place was huge, 6 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms, 3 kitchens, several dining and family rooms. But like I said it was run down and we had to fix ALOT of stuff up. Behind our house was a set of apartment buildings that came along with the house. This is how the story goes... a doctor, his wife and their 7 children lived in this house. The apartments behind the house were his doctor's office. In Laurel (Mississippi) the town is know for it's sawmills. Well back in that day if you got a deep cut or cut a finger off they had to amputate. My dad and uncle found human bones in the basement where they did the amputations. That isn't even where it gets scary. one year All of his 7 children died from chicken pox or whooping cough or something. And the doctor and his wife moved on.

After we had been living there for a few weeks we started hearing sounds like children playing. All night long my oldest sis (16 then) would hear little feet running back and fourth on the second floor where my two sis and my parents slept. I think I even played with them from time to time but I think I blocked it out. Also my dad and I were walking down the servant stairs and both of us out of the corner of our eye saw what I thought was a little man but dad thought it was a child. That little storage closet on the servant stairs is where my sis and I use to play and that is where I saw the little man disappear. Creepy huh?
