I live in Del Rio, Texas border town of Mexico and I know the ACTUAL myth of the "Weeping Lady" also known as "La Yorona". There was a young lady who had two children but the father refused to admit that they were his kids and abandoned them. The mother was so depressed and was longing for love so the first man she saw had interest in her she fell in love with immediatly...but there was one problem. He didn't want to marry a woman who had children from a previous relationship and told her the only way he will be with her is if she got rid of her children for good. So one night she decided to take them down to the creek and without them knowing she tossed them into the water and let them drown. Whe she returned to her boyfriend and told him what she had done he agreed to take her hand in marriage.
But the day of the wedding he left her at the alter. She never saw him again and that day she realized what she had done to her only kids she went mad and went down to the creek searching for them. She never stopped crying until she died of a broken heart. And to this day, if you live near a creek, sometimes at night you can hear her crying still searching for her kids.
