The haunted house

submitted by A

One evening i was at my great grandmothers house. later that day my cousins emily and matt came over from out of town. people had always been telling us that the house behind ours was suppost to be haunted. Both matt emily and i were always up for adventures and scary stuff so we decided after dinner we would sneak down to the house. As we were walking down the rocky road we saw shrubs of all sorts blocking the enterance but matt found a way to get in from the back door. As we walked causiously around the back door we saw that the roof was all caved in but the door was noticable and we thought the creaky porch could manage our weight if we went one at a time. So we went. The door was cracked open with a small wooden prop holding it open. The first few steps we took inside the house was truly freaky. the old house was still furnished and very dusty with spider webs. we all decided to split up but emily said she wanted to stay with me whille matt goes upstairs. matt went upstairs whille we went in the living room. the living room was very small but managable for a small family. there was an old dog food bowl with knats and flies buzzing in it. the couches were old and very dusty. there was an old tv with broken buttons on it. as we were walking to the kitchen i screamed!! it was only a mouse. just a few seconds later matt was screaming violently from upstairs. help me! me and emily ran upstairs.when we got there matt was staring and pointing at the window. whats wrong i yelled.theres a man outside the window,he said. we grabbed on to his arm and we ran outside the door, dashing home. when we arrived home we told my grandmother what had happened. thats absurd she said no ones been down there in decades.she asked our neighbor and he said that a man named erwin douglas had commited suicide in that house. we all looked at eachother and we each knew that what we had seen was surely the ghost of erwin douglas. we never went back again
